As the president of the newly elected EC, I am extremely excited about the future of our chapter. We have made huge strides over the last few years, and I believe now is the time to take the next big step forward. And there seems to be no time more fit for this than following our 50th anniversary. We want to ensure that Delta Upsilon will be building better men and striving to be the best fraternity at Georgia Tech for the next 50 years.
Currently, we are working on a program that will encourage brothers to meet specific benchmarks in areas that I believe will help us hold true to our oath and our founding principles. We are setting high standards in areas such as scholarship, philanthropy, and involvement. With this and more events focused on member education and brotherhood, this will definitely be an exciting time to be involved in Delta Upsilon.
Around the house there have been several big projects, including remodeling the study and upgrading the TV room. The house is almost completely full, and we are in the process of fixing the foundation, replacing the air conditioning units, and adding fire sprinklers in hopes of increasing the desire for brothers to live in the house there entire career at Georgia Tech. In addition, there are several big ideas for house improvements and we hope to be able to start at least one of these by the summer.
Although the chapter does not face any imminent troubles, we need the help of alumni now more than ever. The chapter needs several dedicated alumni advisors to guide its officers when making the crucial decisions on the future of Delta Upsilon. We also need a large number of alumni just dedicating their time throughout the year by coming to the events and showing support. Many senior brothers lose touch with the chapter and having you show them what Delta Upsilon has meant to you will certainly keep them involved and encourage them to be involved as alumni as well.
So as you can see we are extremely busy and eager to get things rolling. I am anxious to see how well we can do as a chapter with the dedication we have as undergrads and the added support of our alumni.
Fraternally,
Frederick Weiss
